Sharing is caring!

Our Hampden Road project comprises of 174 new apartments. The site was a former industrial estate adjacent to Hornsey railway station in Haringey. The area includes the New River, which runs along the north-eastern boundary of the site, and are collectively  designated as an ‘Ecological Corridor’.

We developed the landscape design together with the architectural design to respond to this. The soft landscape corridor creates a green transition, “an urban woodland”, beyond which are the usable gardens together with the two buildings. The central space in between the buildings is designed to be the heart of the development which interacts equally with both, the buildings and other enclaves. We envisaged this as a carpet, a shared surface is bordered with colourful planting and trees, nestled within are the car-parking spaces. Native trees are strategically located which together with the bio-diverse roofs, insect boxes, bird and bat boxes provide ample roosting opportunities for the local fauna.
